The nelfood.com Story

nelfood.com grew out of the Physical Properties of Food DataBase project. This project was initiated to collect and make available on the internet reliable and useful data on Physical Properties of Foods. The project was part funded by the EU, received commercial sponsership from Nestle, RHM and Unilever, was managed by Dr Paul Nesvadba, and the internet work was done by NEL. Conclusions
The project has contributed to the co-ordination of scientific research efforts and activities in the domain of Physical Properties of Foods by achieving the following results:
- Creating an online open access Database of Physical Properties of Foods (www.nelfood.com). This shows what data are available and improves collaboration in obtaining new data.
- Establishing and fostering working relationship between many of the 24 participants of the project
- Establishing a focus for work in the domain by forming FPAC (Food Properties Awareness Club) in which anyone interested can participate
