Add New Literature Reference Details

The Literature References are the key elements of the database. These details provide the basis for all the indexing and sorting within the database.
For this reason, all fields in the tables have to be completed with as accurate data as possible. If data is not available for any of the fields then some default text should be added.
Missing data will be flagged with an arrow () and a short message will be displayed. In some cases, a default value will be automatically supplied.

As the database is primarily concerned with the physical properties of foods, these bibliographic references ties the tables of experimental data to the original document where the data was published. This will allow future researchers to identify the source of the data and if required find the original document.

Most of the information will be readily available from the original source. These items include the Author, the Journal Name, the publication year and other items to uniquely identify the document.
In addition, the document's abstract is required. The presence of the abstract will help avoid future researchers obtaining a document and then finding that it is not appropriate.

The name of the person who has entered the data (completed the proforma) is recorded along with any comments that they may make regarding the document. This is to allow personal experience to be used in assessing a document. Any comments regarding any aspect of the docuement can be recorded and may be of benefit to future researchers.

In order to enter the data, simply use the mouse to move to the first empty box (the document's Title). Click within the box to move the cursor into the box. Enter the name and use the tab key to move to the next required box. Contimue this way until all the required fields are completed.
Note: you must enter data into every field on this form. If data is not available enter N/A or some alternaltive text. If any field is left without data the form will not be processed.

Details on what each of the data fields mean, and what is required, is found here.
