The nelfood.com Story
|
nelfood.com grew out of the Physical Properties of Food DataBase project. This project was initiated to collect and make available on the internet reliable and useful data on Physical Properties of Foods. The project was part funded by the EU, received commercial sponsership from Nestle, RHM and Unilever, was managed by Dr Paul Nesvadba, and the internet work was done by NEL. General DataBase Structure
The database is held together through the Literature References.
Each reference may have one or more food
materials associated with it. Each food material may have one or more
experiment connected to it.
This is shown diagramatically below:
Each experiment consists of two parts - the experiment details and the
experimental data. There is a one to one relataionship between the experiment
details and the experimental data. There can be only one set of data attached to
each detail. If more than one data set can be constructed from the experiment
then a new experiment has to be added with separate experiment details.
