The nelfood.com Story

nelfood.com grew out of the Physical Properties of Food DataBase project.
This project was initiated to collect and make available on the internet reliable and useful data on Physical Properties of Foods.
The project was part funded by the EU, received commercial sponsership from Nestle, RHM and Unilever, was managed by Dr Paul Nesvadba, and the internet work was done by NEL.

Permission Levels
In order to protect the database and the data that is contained within it, a level of security
has been implemented. This security identifies different classes of users and allows these
users differing ranges of access to the database and its functions.
A summary of your personal accout level is displayed on each page.
The icon changes according to what level your permissions are set to.

Standard User
This is the standard account that the majority of users are granted. |

Adminstrator
Restricted to those people that are responsible for the day to day maintainance of the system. (typically, just the webmaster) |

Disabled
The account has been disabled by the administrators.
This is normally done to duplicate entries or to what are percieved to be joke entries. |

Guest
Very low level account no longer in general use |
 |
Validator
Data Validators are food property experts that sign off the data within the database assigning some level of quality control.
These positions are not yet implemented. |
